adidas Crazy Explosive 2017 Low Primeknit REVIEW: This or the Mid?

Alright, all three versions of 2017’s CE are now out of my list and I finally bring you my adidas Crazy Explosive 2017 Primeknit Low review. Last year’s Low was INCREDIBLE and one of my favorite on-court models. Let’s see if the new one can meet my expectations!

The Crazy Explosive shoe line is a brilliant choice for just about any player out there because of their versatility, performance, sheer comfort and also affordability. This is something you don’t wanna miss.

I’ll talk about the shoe’s tech specs, the fit, performance, the upper and decide it it’s worth the price. Let’s start the adidas Crazy Explosive 2017 Low Primeknit review!

Definitely check out my Crazy Explosive 2017 Primeknit Mid review to get an idea how the shoe performs since this one is focused only on the differences between the two ankle cuts.

THE TECH

BOOST

The same cushion setup – AWESOME full-length BOOST foam in a TPU cage for stability. You already know what to expect – awesomeness. Pure awesomeness.

PRIMEKNIT

The upper consists mainly of adidas’s premium knit material that actually looks a bit different from 2017’s Mid upper. More on that in the Upper section.

FIT

SAME COMFORTABLE, BUT WEIRD FIT

The whole fit/comfort is not really different to the Mid – it’s really comfortable, soft, overall pleasant to wear. However, the upper setup is the same thick, double-layered weirdness that does make you feel a bit heavier and less free. Not totally heavy and sh**y but not as super light as the shoe looks or sounds based on the flashy description.

What I did like about these specifically is they felt the lightest and most free out of the three CE models. Like I said, not as light or mobile as the 2016 Low but still great.

The absence of the ankle collar is also a plus since it sheds a bit of weight and adds a tiny bit of mobility for your ankle. Low top wearers will definitely like these. Mid tops wearers, try these, maybe you’ll fall in love with them!

Go true to size with these just like you would on the Mid. The Primeknit will break-in quickly, even for wide footers.

PERFORMANCE

CUSHION

Same amazing cushion experience. Everything you’d need, BOOST has got your covered. Whether it’s impact protection, or bounce, or stability or even a balance to court feel. This is the complete package for just about everyone right here.

TRACTION

Of course, we have the same rubber outsole that performs really f**king good on all court conditions. The rubber compound is a bit improved from last year and while it’s still not an outdoor shoe, it would last longer if you’d try taking these outside.

SUPPORT

This year’s materials have more structure and some new tweaks have been made like an internal heel counter, more present outrigger and an internal shank for stability. In result, the shoe has great support, even for a low top.

It won’t protect you from ankle rolls but neither will the Mid versions since their ankle collars are super stretchy. They’re there without a true purpose, actually.

These won’t offer you LeBron 14-like support but it is enough for any player who wears low tops.

UPPER

FORGED PRIMEKNIT THAT’S NOT THAT NEEDED

Yep, so we have the same upper as on the Mid. It’s a knit that’s forged with TPU yarn for more structure. It does look a bit different from the photos. Those forged wrinkles at the front look kinda smaller and less present, if that makes sense. But it plays pretty much the same.

If you read the Mid review, you know the deal. It’s a very high-quality upper that will last you a long time, provide solid support and a comfortable experience.

But, the two-layer upper setup along with thick materials could be a bit much for some. Ventilation is not this shoe’s side and if you want maximum mobility and lightness, I’d go for something like the Kobe Mamba Instinct or even last year’s CE Low Primeknit.

Don’t get me wrong, the shoe does feel very mobile and comfortable, just not as much when compared to some of the top dogs out there.

OVERALL

BEST FOR ANY LOW TOP WEARER THAT NEEDS BALANCE

The CE 2017 Low Primeknit is an amazing shoe that delivers at balancing performance, tech, and comfort at top levels. It’s hard to find a shoe that offers that much at that price, so whether you’re a guard or a bigger dude, you can definitely try these and chances are you won’t regret it.

+ UNRIVALED BOOST CUSHIONING
+ SUPERB TRACTION NO MATTER THE CONDITIONS
+  KILLER SUPPORT
MATERIALS ARE A BIT THICK AND MISLEADING
LACK OF VENTILATION

Okay, that’s it for the review! I hope you found it useful!
