Air Jordan 4 “Laser”

2019 will be a big year for the Air Jordan 4 as the silhouette marks its 30th anniversary, so expect the Jordan brand to launch a plethora of Air Jordan 4 retro releases and colorways for much of the year.

Last January, the Jordan brand released its first Air Jordan 4 colorway, the “Laser,” which was designed by the renowned designer Tinker Hatfield. It gets its name from the the design of the shoe’s black leather upper which is adorned with a velvet laser-etched printing. This can be good news to anyone who may not like the the shoe’s laser-printed design as they are likely to get rid of the print and replace it with a newer design of their choice, or otherwise paint the upper with simply black.

The retro release of the Air Jordan 4 “Laser” was highly anticipated. In fact, around late 2018 or early 2019 social media influencers had already leaked photos of the shoe that had yet to be released. And finally, on January 19, 2019, the Air Jordan 4 “Laser” was finally out at retailer stores. Its launching price was $220 per pair.

If you take a closer look at the shoe’s laser-printed design, you will be able to see different images which are obviously inspired by basketball legend Michael Jordan’s illustrious career. On the shoe’s tongue, you can see the white iconic white Jumpman logo that “leaps” over the red “Flight” logo; the same white Jumpman logo is also seen on the shoe’s heel. The red Jumpman logo is located on the shoe’s insole. The shoe’s white midsole contrasts the shoe’s black upper, while the gum bottom outsole with a red “Jumpman” logo completes its construction and look.
If the Air Jordan 4’s laser design is familiar to you, you may have probably seen or worn the Air Jordan 4 Retro Laser White/Chrome Metallic Silver which was released back in 2015. It was also in itself a return of the silhouette’s laser print on the upper.

“Friends and Family” edition

Air Jordan’s 4 Laser’s “Friends and Family” version, on the other hand, features a luminous green-based laser print, a reflective tongue tag and an icy see-through outsole. The design of the “Friends and Family” edition is entirely different from the design of the silhouette’s retail version.

Since the shoe had a special design and construction, the “Friends and Family” version was limited only to 68 pairs, as it was launched courtesy of the Jordan Sports Marketing Team. This means that this edition was available in stores.

Anyway, if you are ready to snap up the retro release of these historic kicks, be sure to have $220 already in your pocket, as the prices are not likely to ebb down a bit until several months later.
