Nike Air Foamposite One “Abalone” Edition

The Nike Air Foamposite One was first launched in 1997. If there’s one thing that the Nike Air Foamposite One is famous for, that’s for its collection of iridiscent-colored shoes.

But it’s not just for appearances alone. In fact, the Foamposite One is one of Nike’s popular releases. It remains one of the high-performance sneakers with a great built, well-constructed upper, and a unique fit design for the human foot.

After launching a few classic releases on its 20th anniversary in 2017, Nike seemed to push things forward with the official release of the Nike Air Foamposite One “Abalone” edition last January 20 of this year. This is Nike’s premium edition of the Nike Air Foamposite One roster.

The first thing you notice about this shoe is obviously the colorway. The vivid and highly iridescent colors reflect those of a red abalone snail’s shell. Black, on the other hand, covers the outsole, midsole, collar, tongue, eyelets, eyestay, carbon fiber plate as well as the laces. The black parts feel like suede or nubuck. Since this is a premium model, the retail price was set at $250 at the time of its release.

Despite its new, interesting and less conventional color patterns, the Nike Air Foamposite One Abalone still exudes the classic, vintage look.

But the Nike Air Foamposite One Abalone doesn’t rely on its cool aesthetic appearance alone, as it also uses the latest shoe technology. Despite its heavyset appearance, the Nike Air Foamposite One Abalone promises a light and comfortable fit. The nylon mesh tongue and heel inlay help in promoting breatheability, while the innovative “flight” cushion makes each step and stride less strained and otherwise more invigorated. The solid rubber tread at the outsole makes the shoe totally slip-resistant and allow for an optimum multi-directional traction. The outsole also has the carbon fiber which makes it a lot sturdier.

Like many other basketball sneakers, the Nike Air Foamposite One Abalone has a pull tab, the sling that is located on the heel. This makes the shoes easy to attach to a backpack or a harness (with a carabiner) which is commonly seen among adventurers and lovers of any outdoor activity like hiking, sailing, rock climbing, etc. A pull tab is also helpful if you find the shoe a bit too tight to fit onto.

Other details in this shoe include the teal or aurora green “Penny” logo and the iconic Nike “Swoosh” logo on top of the black outsole, as well as the Nike logo on the insole.

Whether you’re sporting these cool kicks purely for its performance, or rocking them for your street-smart fashion ensemble, you can be assured of these shoes’ quality fit, comfort, as well as its iconic look and style.
