Nike Hyperdunk 2017 Low REVIEW: Which Version is the Best?

I have now played in all three versions of this year’s Hyperdunk and with the last one being the Low, I’ve put together a little comparison review for you. This way, you’ll be able to decide which is best for you. So, here’s a quick Nike Hyperdunk 2017 Low comparison review.

I highly urge you to check out the regular Mid review first ’cause that’s the fully detailed one. In this one, I’ll keep it tight and tell you the differences.

And of course, check out the Flyknit version review too!

SPEC SHEET

TYPE: LOW TOP
TECH: REACT & PHYLON
FIT: TRUE TO SIZE
COLORWAYS: 4+
MY RATING: 9.5/10

THE TECH

REACT & PHYLON

The same cushion setup is used on the Low – a React cushion core within a Phylon foam carrier. It’s a very responsive, ultra light and thin cushioning but provides a substantial amount of impact protection.

FIT

THE SAME AWESOME EXPERIENCE

Not much different going on in the fit area. The shoe is still crazy comfortable, it’s super light, breathable and there’s tons of freedom for your foot without compromising support.

The only thing different is the absence of an ankle collar. It’s no big deal on this shoe, though – the Mid and Flyknit versions have this completely loose and stretchy collar that provides zero structure or extra support, so you’re not losing much.

I just felt that there was a tad bit more ankle mobility without the collar, ’cause it was still felt even though it didn’t add any performance.

PERFORMANCE

CUSHION

The exact same setup, the same experience. In a nutshell, it’s a very responsive and thin cushion setup that doesn’t take away any mobility or speed, provides lots of court feel but still maintains a good amount of impact protection and you can feel some bounce at a very minimal level.

TRACTION

The same outsole is used – awesome traction that’s not that sensitive to dust and will hold up outdoors for some time.

SUPPORT

Like I already mentioned in the fit section, I couldn’t feel a difference without the ankle collar. The only difference was a minor mobility increase because there is no fabric on my ankles.

So support, containment, and lockdown are all the same. And Hyperdunk 2017 Low nails all those aspects.

UPPER

JACQUARD – IDENTICAL TO THE MID

Once again, no changes here, still an awesome upper that could look cheap but plays really nicely. If you’re really picky, you’d say the Flyknit feels more premium and plays even better.

Realistically, that’s not true in my opinion. All three versions nailed it in the park with the materials. Soft, flexible, comfortable, breathable and still supportive. The Flyknit upper is just the lightest one and probably has the best ventilation. But that’s it as far as the benefits go.

All around, this jacquard or textile material is super nice, so don’t fall for the fancy tech name trick manufacturers do.

OVERALL

BEST FOR ANY PLAYER WHO DOESN’T REQUIRE BOUNCY CUSHION

Get the Flyknit option if you want to squeeze every cent of performance and quality, but that will cost you. Get the Mid if you don’t want to worry about picking and choosing anything. Get the Low if you want the most bang for your buck. Simple as that.

+ A NEAR PERFECT FIT, SUPER COMFY
+ THE SAME KILLER TRACTION
+ A WELL-BALANCED CUSHION SETUP

Okay, that’s it for the review! I hope you found it useful!
