Under Armour Curry 5 Review

When the Under Armour Curry 4 turned out to be a great shoe overall, it is only natural that a lot of people put a lot of rather heavy expectations on the Under Armour Curry 5. Images of the upcoming shoe came out as early fueling fans’ hopes that it would do as well as the Curry 4… or why not, even better than that.

The Under Armour Curry 5 is the fifth of Under Armour’s and Stephen Curry’s signature sneakers. The first colorway is the “Welcome Home” which debuted on retail stores . Its original sales price was $130.

The shoe has a low-cut appearance, not something which any typical guard would sport on the hard court (although Stephen Curry himself did wear low- and mid-cut signature sneakers in the past). Under Armour used its proprietary Anafoam material for containment, in order to keep the foot secured and locked down in place no matter how intense your moves on the hard court will be.

As for the upper, the Under Armour Curry 5 features a knit material for breatheability and comfort.

The “squaring the circle” is the predominant theme of the Under Armour Curry 5, where each shoe features a pattern of square and circle overlays under the forefoot to provide Stephen Curry the much-needed traction as he darts his way to the basket.

Some users are happy to report that the Under Armour Curry 5 has a great traction which does well especially on clean courts. But unfortunately, even more users are grumbling at how inconsistent this shoe’s traction is. Plus, they comment on how easily the outsole picks up dirt and how hard it is to wipe it off.

The Under Armour Curry 5 is listed as a “true-to-size” shoe. However, many users have reported that it feels too tight at the forefoot and midfoot, and some of them even suffer blisters as a result of wearing it. Wide-footers and flat-footers are advised not to wear this shoe.

As for the cushion, the setup is the same as that of the Curry 4 – still the same stiff cushioning that offers very little impact protection, but still it provides a good deal of responsiveness. However, some users say that the cushion of the Under Armour Curry 5 is even a little firmer than its predecessor’s.

Actually, after the Under Armour Curry 5 came out, the subsequent reviews turned out to be mostly mixed to negative. Others did not even recommend the shoe. However, it does have some good things. It scores big points for aesthetic reasons. Plus, it has a great knit upper and the lockdown is excellent.

The negative reviews are not unanimous, and there are a lot of people who heap praises on the Under Armour Curry 5 and even award this shoe a perfect five over five, saying that the Under Armour Curry 5 is the best shoe they’ve ever worn. They are happy with the materials and the construction that make the shoe comfortable to wear, the solid lockdown and excellent support. Some of them are happy to note at how the cushioning is a significant improvement from that of the Curry 4.If you are interested in the Under Armour Curry 5, it is still in the market and you can buy it if you are willing to take the risk.
