Adidas Continental 80 Rascal

It seems that the wave of retro sneakers is unstoppable. Thus, the major shoe manufacturers continue to come up with many designs that will engender nostalgic feelings especially among vintage sneaker fans.
Adidas is no exception, having come up with some of its most recent retro sneakers including the Adidas Continental 80 Rascal. Once known as the Continental in the ’80s, the Adidas Continental 80 Rascal stands true to its ’80s form, from the design down to the materials of the shoe. It is guaranteed that many fans of the classics will be happy with the re-issue of the Continental 80, further fueling today’s enthusiasm over ’80s and ’90s styled kicks, and it looks like the the public’s passion for them won’t be dimming very soon…

The ’80s indoor trainer may look simple but it is nevertheless sporty. The two-tone navy blue-and-red stripes across its side panel, perforations on the side panels and toe area, and Adidas’ erstwhile three-leaf (the classic “trefoil”) logo on the tongue provoke palpable late ’80s feels. The upper is made of soft leather, the lining consists of french terry cotton and the midsole is made up of EVA foam for comfort – just like in the original Continental 80.

Although the Adidas Continental 80 Rascal exhibits strong similarities with the Adidas Yeezy Powerphase (which was released almost in the same period), the Continental 80 Rascal was not based on the Yeezy’s design. Besides, the Adidas Continental 80 Rascal differs from the Yeezy Powerphase in terms of materials, layering and angles. Nevertheless, fans of the Yeezy Powerphase will be happy to get hold of these casual sneaker classics.

The Adidas Continental 80 Rascal was released in June 2018 in black, white and cream colorways. The good news especially for vintage sneaker fans is that it was originally priced at $80 when it debuted, and expect its price to go down even lower as months pass. The launch of the Continental 80 Rascal was actually a surprise, and may have been likely passed over other sneakers like the Powerphase Calabasas, which has some resemblance to the Continental 80 Rascal. But if the Powerphase Calabasas is a little too expensive for you, then the Continental 80 Rascal makes for than just a worthy alternative.

If you’re also into collecting retro sneakers, you might have snapped up the Adidas Continental 80 Rascal already.
