The Nike Soldier line rose to global fame during the 2016 NBA finals, where James wore a LeBron Soldier 10 during his iconic chase down block on Andre Iguodala. Nike aimed to do the same thing with the LeBron Soldier 11, with James wearing the “Prototype” during the 2017 NBA Playoffs.
The Nike LeBron Soldier 11 is a stronger version of its predecessor, equipped with four lockdown shoe straps, Zoom Air cushioning, triple-layer foam and an embedded compression sleeve. James’ branding marks the shoe traditionally, while the Nike Swoosh branding is at the rear of the mid.
This sneaker features a lace-less design, thus the shoe straps with Velcro, for premium lockdown support. Two straps are thicker to better support the forefoot and midfoot, while the two lighter straps stretch around the ankle. This is inspired by soldiers’ boots, as they have no time to tie a shoe in a battle. The Zoom air cushioning is placed at the heel, midsole and forefoot to maximize responsiveness and provide good impact protection. It also provides breathable comfort through its stretch mesh build in the upper.
