The Nike Shox Gravity takes on a more toned-down (and even a bit more luxurious) turn with its “Green Strike” edition, where sleekness and performance combine seamlessly.
The Nike Shox Gravity Luxe “Green Strike” was officially released on January 18, 2018 and on February 1, 2018 at Foot Locker, and debuted at $150 a pair. Colorways for both men’s and women’s sizes are available.
If you remember it quite well, the return of the Nike Shox Gravity last January 2018 was a big nod to the chunky ’90s favorite. Compared to the first Nike Shox Gravity, which has a more striking old-school look, the Nike Shox Gravity Luxe “Green Strike” offers a more toned-down approach, which makes it perfect to match with any outfit.
The “Green Strike” edition is the Nike Shox Gravity’s second colorway which comes across as quite cool to the eyes. The sleek all-black upper is wrapped by a textured heel overlay. The upper is made with a breathable mash. The all-black silhoutte is further complemented by bright green accents and detailing which may remind anyone of the Air Jordan 13 “Altitude” edition.
All of the shoes in the Nike Shox family have something distinct in common. These are the four springs on the heel that help the absorption of a shock due to a heel impact or “heel strike,” which produces a bouncing or “boing” effect. While the Shox shoes can be worn by any athlete, they are specifically made with the athletic runners, sprinters and marathoners in mind. The Nike Shox Gravity Luxe “Green Strike” has those springs too, along with a hexagonal heel protector.
Like in the previous Nike Shox Gravity, the Nike Shox Gravity Luxe “Green Strike” applies the same speed lacing system which consists of a pull-tie instead of the ordinary laces. It also sports the iconic Shox “S” logo on the insoles. With a decorative quarter and a heel panel, you may assume at first that the “Green Strike” edition is a premium shoe. While it does tout the luxurious (hence the name) and “premium” kicks look, you may be surprised when you look at its price tag.
