Reebok Iverson Legacy Review

Reebok has just recently dropped the Reebok Iverson Legacy, to celebrate the early years of The Answer line of signature sneakers.

The Reebok Iverson Legacy is a hybrid type of shoe. This high-top silhouette combines different elements from Allen Iverson’s previous signature shoes such as the Question Mid, Answer 1, Answer 2, Answer 3 and Answer 4. It features a combination of different materials. This particular release comes in OG Philadelphia 76ers colors – red and white – with a vivid red leather on the mudguard.

There are lots of branding going on here for the Reebok Iverson Legacy. The black and gold Reebok logo is seen on the lateral side panel, while the “I3” logo  is seen on the lateral heel, an embossed Reebok script is located on the tongue and Allen Iverson’s signature is stamped across the medial side panel. The upper sits on top of a gold-colored gum sole unit (an element from the Answer 1).

It was released on April 1, 2019 at the original sales price of $160. It is available in three colorways: black/red, multi-color and white/black/red/brass.

It looks as vintage as it gets partly because of the combination of patent leather and mixed materials, which also deliver comfort and durability. The classic design and the lack of a contemporary touch are what makes this shoe especially appealing.

For a lot of fans of the NBA superstar, they say that Iverson’s shoes from Reebok are the best they’ve ever worn in a while. They can be right, as the Reebok Iverson Legacy is a pretty solid performance basketball shoe.

As for the cushioning setup, the gum sole unit features Reebok’s classic proprietary DMX foam wrapped in an EVA midsole which feels quite light. The DMX foam is formulated in a way that it transfers the air from the forefoot to the heel (and back) for a balanced cushioning, resulting to a plush ride as the wearer struts his stuff on the hardcourt.

The shoe also features an EVA insole, which wearers can remove and replace with orthotics of their preference for increased comfort.

As for the fit and lockdown, everything is pretty much standard in the Reebok Iverson Legacy. It comes in a standard width and length, so it is recommended that those who are interested to buy the shoe need to try it for size first in-store before buying it. The Reebok Iverson Legacy is designed as a unisex shoe, so women can also wear it as well by going down one size and a half for a more snug and secure fit. The standard lacing system and midfoot strap allow for a more secure and locked-down feel for the feet.

As for the traction, the outsole follows closely to the that of the Reebok Answer 1. The traction pattern is divided into two sections of the heel and forefoot. Each section has four pods, which deliver flexibility, ease of movement and enhanced responsiveness, as well as a more natural feel on the foot.

The Reebok Iverson Legacy is, overall, a great shoe. It is pleasing to the eye and provides the performance you would expect from a basketball/athletic shoe.
