The Adidas Yeezy 500 Desert Rat seems to be included on every “best sneakers of 2018” list, so far
But the Adidas Yeezy 500 Desesrt Rat was actually one of the most anticipated kicks in 2017, largely because of its celebrity connection. It was the product of a collaboration between the “three stripes” brand and controversial rapper/songwriter/producer Kanye West. After giving a few teasers, West finally kept his word and later went on to launch a plethora of Yeezy 500 Desert Rat’s last December 2017. One of the first colorways to come out of this model is the “Super Moon Yellow.”
Since then, the Adidas Yeezy 500 Desert Rat has seen a few more subsequent colorways. And who knows, we would get to see some more of them in 2018.
The Adidas Yeezy 500 Desert Rat proves that Kanye West is not only a trailblazer in the world of music and recording, but in the footwear department as well. While some critics intiallly dismissed the Yeezy 500 Desert Rat for its rather chunky-looking silhouette which led them to call it as a “dad shoe,” it did very little to weaken the hype surrounding it.
A handful of more Yeezy 500 Desert Rat colorways has been dropped – and will be dropped – this 2018 which includes “Blush,” “Utility Black,” as well as “Ultraviolet.” Unless the release dates for some of these colorways have been confirmed, all that sneakerheads have to do for now is to wish for these kicks be released very soon.
But the truly confirmed Yeezy 500 Desert Rat release this 2018, so far, is the “Blush” colorway. It was released on April 14, 2018 and carried the introductory retail price of $200.
One of the biggest surprises about these shoes is that, despite their chunky-looking silhouette, they feel surprisingly comfortable when worn.
The previous Yeezy’s normally had the Boost technology that made them quite popular; but in the case of the Adidas Yeezy 500 Desert Rat, it doesn’t have the traditional Boost technology. Instead, it comes with the “adiPrene” outsole technology. While the adiPrene doesn’t receive as much hype as the Boost does, it promises – and delivers – lighweight and responsive cushioning. It doesn’t even leave ugly marks on the floor!
As for the materials, the Adidas Yeezy 500 Desert Rat is constructed with a premium combination of suede, mesh and leather on top of its signature chunky midsole. The shoe also has an excellent lockdown factor as it also comes with a distinct lacing system which secures your foot in place. The Adidas Yeezy 500 Desert Rat’s fit is true to size which makes it a bit more different compared to the previous Yeezy’s.
These shoes might look chunky and feel a bit heavy compared to its predecessors, but you will instantly feel that you’re wearing a solid pair of sneakers.
The classic beige colorway of the Adidas Yeezy 500 Desert Rat “Blush” makes them versatile sneakers – they look great and can match well with most pants and shorts.
With pros outweighing the cons on the Adidas Yeezy 500 Desert Rat, one could say that in the end, it’s quite worth the hype.
