Air Jordan 10 Retro “Cool Grey” edition

Jordan Brand brought back one of its most legendary and coveted colorways with Air Jordan 10 Retro “Cool Grey.” The shoe was getting an update by way of its multicolored sole, where some of Michael Jordan’s most noteworthy achievements were also embossed.

A little backstory of the Air Jordan 10 (or “Air Jordan X”): the shoes first arrived in 1994, about a year after Jordan retired. But in 1995, Jordan returned to the NBA; upon his comeback, he wore the Jordan 10 with the white-black-red Chicago colorway.

And now that the Air Jordan 10 silhouette was making a return this 2018, it was now sporting in a familiar “Cool Grey” colorway. It was released on January 27, 2018 at a retail price of $190.

The Air Jordan 10 Retro “Cool Grey” basically features a grey upper, and that tonal look continues towards the laces, lining, tongue and midsole. The upper’s material is made with a combination of nubuck (or suede) and tumbled leather.

The shoe is all grey until you turn the shoe up and look at its outsole. The different colors of the outsole break this sneaker’s all-grey color scheme. The multicolor or rainbow arrangement on the outsole represents Michael Jordan’s biggest career achievements:

  • “94 BEYOND” (black)
  • “93 MVP/CHAMPIONSHIP” (orange)
  • “92 MVP/CHAMPIONSHIP” (red)
  • “91 MVP/CHAMPIONSHIP” (indigo or violet)
  • “90 SCORES 69 PTS” (white)
  • “89 ALL DEFENSE” (blue)
  • “88 DUNK CHAMP” (yellow)
  • “87 SCORING TITLE” (red)
  • “86 63 POINTS” (green)
  • “85 ROOKIE OF THE YEAR” (black)

Many people believe that some of the colors on the outsole represent Jordan’s opponents en route to six NBA championships. If you’re a big fan of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in particular, we think that the Air Jordan 10 Retro “Cool Grey” is a good way to wear your love for His Airness on your sleeve – or rather, on the soles of your shoe.

The Air Jordan 10 Retro “Cool Grey” has the closest resemblance to the Air Jordan 10 Retro 2014 version in terms of the silhouette, design and color. But the 2014 iteration features a Cool Grey/Infrared-Black colorway, with the almost-grey upper; black on the lace, tongue area, eyestay, pull tab and midsole; and gray with hits of “infrared” on the outsole. The 2018 version, on the other hand, is grey all over except for the particolored midsole and the white “Jumpman” logo on the gray insole.
