Air Jordan 6 “Chinese New Year” edition

The Air Jordan brand has its own way of celebrating the Chinese New Year by releasing shoes with some interesting silhouettes and designs which are specially fit for the festive occasion.

Over the years, sneaker fans have seen Air Jordan launching some pretty cool sneakers as their way of celebrating the Chinese New Year. The Air Jordan’s 2018 CNY edition was released last February 3 (Chinese New Year was February 18), so obviously it features special-edition Chinese New Year-inspired details and graphics. It features luxuriously bold graphics that consisted of a floral embroidery as well as detailed firework-inspired prints that welcomed the 2018 Chinese New Year with a bang. The gold accents and explosive, vivid coloring even stand out more strongly against the all-black background.

Gold and red symbolize wealth, prosperity, good fortune and happiness. These are the auspicious colors in Chinese culture and they are implemented all over the shoe’s silhouette.

The Air Jordan 6 “Chinese New Year” is a “premium” pair, the reason why it debuted at $250 per pair when it was first released.

The upper is made with a combination of nubuck, tumbled leather and taffeta by which Air Jordan 6 “Chinese New Year” edition exudes a premium look and feel.

In addition to the explosive colors, the embroidered element also gives the Air Jordan 6 “Chinese New Year” edition a considerable uniqueness. The design of this shoe is a big step from the Air Jordan 12 CNY last year, which is simpler in comparison by the way. The Air Jordan 6 “Chinese New Year” has a bit of resemblance to the Air Jordan 5 Low in 2016.

You also notice that the Air Jordan 6 Chinese New Year edition has a perforated upper, which promotes breathability. The heel features the Air Sole unit which helps in lowering the force of impact and in maintaining the shoe’s light and comfortable feel. The inner construction of this shoe even adds to its comfort factor. Two pull tabs on the tongue make these shoes easier (and less painful) for your feet to slip on and take off.

A translucent white rubber outsole with black and red accents as well as the iconic “Jumpman” logo complete the look of this one-of-a-kind pair of kicks.
